3 Reasons why you should Download Channel NewsAsia iPhone // iPad App

The first Channel News Asia Application was developed  was launched in March 2009 , during that period the only iOS Device i held was a 8GB iPod touch which i currently use for testing applications currently.

According to Channel NewsAsia

Articles can be downloaded for offline reading, and users can build a favourites list, saving articles for up to three days. In addition, viewers of Channel NewsAsia’s TV programmes can set reminders for their favourite shows, so they will not miss them.

Here are the 3 reasons , why you should get the iOS Application now ,

Offline Reading

channel news asia offline downloading

Here you can take a look at the offline reading function where it showcases , the ability to download articles

before you go out , pretty good function developed understanding Singapore’s 3G coverage is quite bad.

This allows users on the iPad Wifi to download news while they are having their breakfast before heading out.

 Favourites Function

This function as the name suggests , allows you to bookmark any article and it will be saved for 3 days. To access

it simply navigate to the menu and hit Favourites , there you will have all your articles stored for 3 days only , after that

it will “CHAO SENG” (Hokkien Slang , used to describe food turning bad) ? yeah apparently it will be removed from the App.

Reminders for your favourite shows

Here it allows you to set a reminder about your favourite series ,

all you got to do is just set a reminder for that specific episode . Perhaps they could include

another feature which allows users to set reminders for all future episodes.

I really how this Application assists Channel Newsasia in connecting users to the Television. With a reminders functions , i’m sure viewership would increase

it might not be major but an increase is still an increase.

“This iPad/iPhone app gives consumers a choice to effectively take Channel NewsAsia with you wherever you go”

Ms Catherine Dickie, assistant vice-president of digital product development and marketing for Channel NewsAsia

Summary:

To be honest , this is pretty quite a nice app to use on a daily basis , the 2 functions which are the most useful to a busy person like myself would be the offline reading as well as

reminders , perhaps integration of reminders with my Google Calender would be great !

Also i felt they should have a ad-free version which allows NO ADS at all for users , as i understand that there are many users out there which would not mind a Ad-Free version of an App(Just take a look at DrawSomething)

Sharing should not be limited to FB//Twitter but  be made available to other platforms

such as Instapaper which allows you to save your articles for offline reading.
